Should I Adjust My Pagefile Size for Better Gaming Performance?

Hey everyone! I've been playing Horizon Forbidden West and have run into some serious memory leaks. After finishing the main campaign, I'm now stuck in the Burning Shores, and it's been really frustrating. My setup includes an 8GB VRAM GPU, 32GB of RAM, and I'm running the game on an SSD. I remembered the old trick about manually setting the pagefile size to 1.5x for minimum and 3x for maximum, but with 32GB of RAM, it feels excessive. Should I tweak the pagefile size to help with the memory leaks, or will that just make things worse? I've never really understood pagefile management, and I'm curious if anyone has insights on this.

Honestly, just let Windows manage the pagefile. It usually knows what’s best for most systems these days, so don’t stress about it too much. Setting it manually might not help as much as you think.

I totally get that! When I start playing, it's super smooth, but after a while it turns into a slideshow. I really want to avoid those frustrating FPS drops, so I'm open to any suggestions!

If you’re getting Out of Memory errors, the pagefile can definitely be a factor. I usually set a small static pagefile on my boot drive and let the system manage the rest, it can help in case your main pagefile path goes down.

These days, the pagefile isn't as crucial unless you're playing games that really push memory limits like Escape from Tarkov. Some players find they need a bigger pagefile to avoid crashes, but for most players, it shouldn’t be a major worry.

Yeah, Horizon Forbidden West is a port and it should run well. Just make sure your drives are set for Windows to manage the pagefile effectively. It can make a difference when you're using faster drives like NVMe, while HDDs can sometimes drag things down.

For sure, I expected it to perform better too! I thought there would be a fix with the final update, but my RTX 4060 Ti isn't cutting it. I'm running at 1080p but it's just not smooth anymore.
