I've been using my PC for almost three years without any issues, but I just experienced a small static shock when I pressed the power button. My computer is plugged into a quality Anker surge protector, which I bought a year ago. It happened while I was getting out of bed, so I might have built up static from my bedding or the carpet. Is this something to worry about? I've always thought static shocks were only concerning if I touched something inside the case. I've double-checked that all the standoffs are in place. Is it common for this to happen occasionally, or should I be concerned about grounding? I really want to protect my investment, as I spent around $2,000 building this PC!

If it only happened once, it's probably just a case of static electricity, like when you rub against something and then touch metal. But if it keeps happening, you might want to look into it more. Don't stress too much; static shocks happen and shouldn't harm your pc unless you get zapped while handling internal components!
So, if I felt the static outside the case, that shouldn't affect anything inside, right?
