Should I buy a used 3080 Ti or go for a new 4070 Super?

I'm building my first PC next month and I'm torn between two GPU options: I can get a used 3080 Ti for around $420-$450 or a new 4070 Super for about $600-$650. I'm aiming for a graphics card that will last a few years, ideally allowing me to play at mid-refresh 1440p. Is the price difference of roughly $200 worth it? Just to clarify, I'm located in Asia, and GPU prices here tend to be a bit higher; a 5070 is priced around $700. Any insights?

If you can, definitely go for the 5070. It’s a solid option, especially since the 3080 Ti, while still good, is getting older. Just keep in mind, the power draw on the 3080 Ti is higher, which can lead to increased electricity bills over time.

I've been using my 3080 and it's still handling 4K gaming fine. That said, I’d be wary of buying used. You never know how hard it’s been used, so consider that risk compared to the peace of mind with a new card.

Yeah, buying second-hand can be a gamble! I got burnt once and now I'm all about new cards for reliability.

Personally, I'd recommend going for the 4070 Super. Newer generation cards generally offer better longevity and efficiency. However, if you can find a good deal on the 5070, that might be even better value since it competes well with the 4070 Super.
