I'm building a PC for 1440p gaming, video editing, and content creation, and I've found a used 4060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM for $200. The seller says it's been used for a year. I'm wondering if this is a good deal, especially since I've read that 8GB might limit performance. Should I grab this card and use it until I can afford a more powerful upgrade, or are there other GPUs in the $200-$400 range that would perform better and last longer?

The 8GB is definitely on the lower side. If you can, look for a 3060 with 12GB; it might not be as fast but will serve you better at 1440p. You could also check if you can find a used Radeon 6800 or 6700X, which offer 16GB of VRAM. The 4060 Ti is alright for gaming, but for content creation, you'll want that extra VRAM to avoid bottlenecks as you move forward.
While $200 sounds good, keep in mind that 8GB GPUs are becoming a limitation for many games at 1440p. If your total budget is around $1500, I suggest looking for something with 12GB or more. Have you thought about your entire system budget?
Yeah, I'm thinking I'll spend about $1500 total if I stick with 1440p. My CPU, RAM, and motherboard budget is around $600, with an additional $200-$400 for cooler, fans, and PSU. I'll also need a 1440p monitor, but I'm figuring out separate budgeting for that.
You might want to consider the 9060 XT instead; it should be available for under $400 and offers a lot more VRAM, which is crucial for 1440p gaming. I think aiming for the 16GB version would really benefit you in the long run. The 4060 Ti is decent, but you'll likely hit some limits due to its VRAM soon enough.
True, I'm also weighing my options. I have time before I need to finalize my decision, but the 4060 Ti is a tempting offer since it's available now. The 9060 XT sounds like a much better investment if you're thinking long-term.
Medium settings are my goal, so I’m just looking for good quality while recording. Is recording at 1080p a bad idea?
