Should I buy RAM or CPU first for my build?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out whether I should get the 9800x3d CPU or 32GB of RAM first. I've heard mixed opinions about RAM prices - some say it'll drop while others think it will keep rising. I know it's hard to predict, but I would love some suggestions on what to prioritize. Also, if I do go for RAM, should I choose CL32 6000MHz? I'm a bit confused about specifications and brands given the current economic situation. Just so you know, I've recently bought a new GPU and I'm planning to build my PC incrementally since I want to multi-stream, edit, and game. Thanks!

I get that you're looking to start gathering parts, but it’s risky to buy ahead without being able to test them as you go. Imagine getting new RAM you bought ages ago and it doesn't work with your new motherboard later! It's better to save up for most parts and build them all at once. Just my two cents.

That's a really good point! Better to have everything together and avoid potential headaches later.

You might want to buy the CPU and motherboard along with the RAM all at once, that way you can test everything within the return window. As for the RAM latency, the 9800x3d chips are less affected by it, so just grab what seems to offer the best value for your budget.

It really depends on your platform; if you're not already set up with AM5, you can't use one without the other. I'd suggest just getting whichever one has a better discount right now.

Maybe prioritize the RAM, but if there are talks about an AI bubble burst, consider the CPU instead. I've noticed some bundle deals for CPUs and RAM, so it's worth checking those out!
