Should I buy the Asus RTX 5080 Prime OC now or wait for the Super version?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide whether I should buy the RTX 5080 or hold off for the Super version. I'm currently using an old Asus GTX 1080 TI ROG while upgrading my build, but I'm not sure if waiting for the Creator (ProArt) version is worth it since it seems like it's taking forever to be released. By the time it comes out, the 5080 will be older, and I feel like the price might not be justified. I'm also worried about how the Super variant will be priced given that it may offer more VRAM but could also come with its own issues due to scalpers and supply shortages. I mainly play games like Red Alert 2 and Space Marine 2 on a 4K 120 Hz monitor. Thanks for your help!

I usually upgrade every-other series and just grab the 80 series a few months after it releases. I don't stress over the 'ti' or 'super' labels. Just get something solid and move on!

I get that! I'm specifically looking for the Asus Prime since it fits my case better. Just feels weird to pay so much for something that feels overpriced.

Honestly, for the games you mentioned, the regular RTX 5080 should serve you well for quite a while. It sounds like you're not looking at super intensive games, so you might not need to stress about waiting for the Super variant.

The RTX 5080 has been criticized for its price-to-performance ratio, especially since it's around $1300 and only marginally outperforms the 5070 Ti by about 10%. If you don't need the very latest features like ray tracing or DLSS, the 5070 Ti might be a better option. But if you want something now, maybe just hang tight and see how the Super versions turn out; they might end up costing even more.

Thanks for the insight! I'm leaning towards the 5070 Ti after reading your thoughts.

Remember, the 5080 can be overclocked quite effectively and can reach near stock performance of the 4090.

If only I could see into the future! But really, it’s best to wait; you might find the 5080 or a Super variant at a better price later on.

The price difference between the 5080 and the 5070 Ti isn’t worth it, especially since both have the same amount of VRAM. My advice is to weigh all your options carefully before deciding.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks for the heads up!

When is this 5080 Super supposed to drop? I'm in a similar boat!

I heard it’s expected sometime in early 2026.
