Should I Choose a 750W or 850W PSU for My Setup?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 3600 with an RX 9060XT and using a 550W power supply. Since I plan to upgrade to a 5700X or 5700X3D CPU down the line, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a 750W or 850W power supply. My gaming is mostly at 1080p, and I'm okay with medium to high settings, so I don't expect to go for high-end GPUs. Given my current usage and future plans, which wattage would be the better choice?

Both the 750W and 850W would work for you. It really comes down to pricing. If the 850W isn't too much more expensive, it’s worth considering for the long haul. Otherwise, go for the 750W and make sure it’s efficient.

Is an 850W more efficient even if I'm not hitting full load? I’m leaning toward that option just to be safe.

Honestly, a 550W PSU is actually enough for your current setup. If you’re doing mid-range upgrades, a high-quality 750W would cover your needs without any issues in the future. The 850W is kind of overkill unless you plan on some serious upgrades or overclocking, but it’s nice to prepare for unexpected needs.
