Should I Choose Ryzen 5 7600 or Ryzen 7 7700 for Gaming?

I'm building a new PC and planning to pair it with a 9070XT. My main focus is gaming, and I believe I've got enough power for any other tasks I might do with this setup. I've noticed that the Ryzen 7 7700 is often considered overkill for gaming, and when looking up performance comparisons, they generally appear quite similar in single-player AAA titles. The main variance I see is in competitive multiplayer games like Warzone and CS2, where the frame rates can significantly differ. I don't mind if the 7600 leads to a reduction of around 20 fps. Plus, the price difference is substantial, as I can get the 7600 for much less. I'm trying to decide if investing in the 7700 is worth it for future-proofing or if I should just stick with the more cost-effective option.

From what you've noticed, yes, the performance differences between the 7600 and the 7700 are pretty minimal for gaming. If you're mainly focused on gaming, I'd say go for the cheaper 7600. It's a solid choice. Also, if you're considering alternatives, the 9600X is a bit more powerful and efficient, just throwing that out there!

I assume the X and non-X versions of the 7600 have similar performance differences as the 7700 and 7700X, right? I'll look into the 9600X as well; it might just come down to how much I save with the 7600.
