I'm building a new PC and noticed that the Ryzen 7 7700 is just a few bucks more than the Ryzen 5 9600X. Given this small price difference, is it worth it to go for the 7700 instead?

If you want the benefits of 8 cores, you should definitely go with the Ryzen 7 7700. It will give you more performance in multitasking and future-proofing your setup.
Check out some benchmarks on YouTube. It really helps to see how both CPUs perform in real-world scenarios and gaming. You'll get a better idea of which one suits your needs!
For gaming specifically, the Ryzen 5 9600X is still a solid choice. They’re pretty comparable, but the newer architecture in the 7700 gives it a slight edge in efficiency. Plus, remember that the 7700 comes with a stock cooler while the 9600X doesn’t, which is something to think about too.
You might want to wait for the release of the 9600X3D. It’s expected to be a really strong contender and only about $70–80 more than the current price of the 9600X. That could be a game changer!
I get that, but if you can hold off a little, it might be worth it!

Yeah, but $70 is quite a leap for my budget right now.
