Should I choose the 5070 Ti over the RX 9070 XT for my first PC build?

I'm building my first PC and I've selected the Ryzen 7 9700X as my CPU. I'm trying to decide if the 5070 Ti is worth the extra £80-£100 compared to the RX 9070 XT, especially for gaming at 1440p with high settings. Just to clarify, I meant the 5070 Ti, not the Super version—my mistake!

If you're focused purely on raster performance, the 9070 XT could be a better deal, but for everything else like ray tracing, the 5070 Ti wins.

Honestly, unless you're going heavy on productivity tasks, I'd probably recommend sticking with the 9070 XT if you want better value for gaming.

Paying £100 more gets you a range of benefits like a higher quality upscaling feature (DLSS4) in about 100 games compared to FSR4 in only about 20 titles. Plus, the 5070 Ti has better ray tracing capabilities and future features are likely to be better developed. It really comes down to whether those extras matter to you or if you want to save a bit.

Totally agree! The Nvidia features are fantastic. I can't imagine watching videos without RTX VSR or HDR now—it really enhances everything. For me, these features alone justify the extra cost.

Exactly, while both cards handle 1440p gaming nicely, Nvidia's advantages, especially in competitive gaming, make it a worthy investment.

I'd actually say no, considering the issues with the 50 series—particularly a performance drop due to ROPs issues, which may affect your gaming experience. Just something to keep in mind.

It seems that most ROP issues only affected the early batches. Any cards made after that should be fine, so don't let that dissuade you too much unless you see other issues popping up.

If your budget allows, the 5070 Ti is definitely a better pick. That extra £100 could be something like less storage or another component, and in that case, the 9070 XT might be worth considering. But overall, I'd go with the 5070 Ti if possible.

At the end of the day, it really depends on what you're after. The RX 9070 XT is often cheaper and still provides awesome performance for 1440p. That said, if the features of the 5070 Ti matter more to you, then it’s worth the extra cash!
