I'm trying to figure out whether to go for an RTX 5070 or 4070 with my Intel i5-10400F while gaming at 1440p. There seems to be some debate about whether the 4070 might bottleneck with this CPU at that resolution. I also have a 500W power supply, which could limit the 5070 a bit, but PCPartPicker estimates my power usage at 420W with the 5070 and 370W with the 4070. I've got a 165Hz monitor and would love to hit 80+ fps in modern titles like Spider-Man 2, Doom Dark Ages, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and Elden Ring. I don't mind using DLSS if needed, and I'm aiming for over 100 fps in older games like RDR2, God of War, and Diablo 4.

From my experience with an i7-10700F paired with a 3060, I found that the CPU tends to bottleneck before the GPU. Both the 5070 and 4070 are definitely better options than the 10400F, so in this case, it might not matter which GPU you pick because the CPU will hold you back. If possible, consider upgrading your processor along with one of those GPUs for better performance.

That's a good point! I guess I didn't fully consider upgrading the CPU as well.
