I'm looking to upgrade my current GPU, an RTX 3070, which I've been using for about 3.5 years. I plan to sell it for approximately $300, which makes my effective budget for a new GPU around $950. The options available to me are the MSI RTX 5070 Ti, priced around $930 after taxes, and the XFX 9070 XT Mercury OC, which costs about $750. Given that I'll be using the GPU primarily for 1440p 240Hz gaming, and possibly 4K down the road, is the extra $200 for the RTX 5070 Ti justified? Are there better options within my price range now or in the near future?

I was in the same boat and went for the 9070 simply because it was available at a decent price of $699. Performance-wise, they're pretty much neck and neck. The 5070 Ti might edge out with DLSS, but overall I'd say stick with the 9070.
The choice really depends on the games you're going to play. Some run better on AMD cards while others are optimized for NVIDIA. Personally, I'd recommend the AMD option. The performance difference between the 5070 Ti and the 9070 XT is just about 7%, but you're looking at a cost difference of around $150 on average. Plus, while DLSS is better than FSR, is it really worth the extra cash?
If you can swing the price, the 5070 Ti has more features and better overall support. It could be worth it in the long run, especially if you're looking to move to 4K gaming.
Is it worth it if I have to pay an extra $200, though? Seems steep.
Honestly, I don't think the 5070 Ti is worth the extra $200. Seems like a no-brainer to go with the 9070 XT if you're looking for value for money.
Exactly! I think the 9070 XT offers so much more for the price, considering all its features. I'm leaning towards that now.
Both GPUs offer solid performance depending on the game. Generally, the 5070 Ti might be the better choice for future-proofing, especially if you're considering 4K gaming. But if you want to save a bit and don't mind compromising, the 9070 XT is also a great choice with solid AMD features.
Right now I'm focused on 1440p gaming for a couple of years, so I think the 9070 XT makes more sense for me.
The 5070 Ti is good for features like DLSS and Reflex. But if you can live without those perks, saving that extra cash is definitely a smart move.
Is there an equivalent AMD technology to DLSS? From what I've seen, FSR 4 is getting pretty close, so I think I'm leaning towards the 9070 XT.

I totally get that! For most of the games I play, the 9070 XT has actually outperformed my expectations. Can't see paying an extra $150-$200 just for the 5070 Ti.
