I'm looking to upgrade from my Ryzen 5 5500 and I'm torn between the Ryzen 7600X and the 7600X3D. I noticed a price difference of $130 before tax at my local Microcenter, and I'm mainly playing games like World of Warcraft, Sims 4 (with mods/expansions), and Minecraft (modded). I'm also planning to get the new Battlefield 6 when it comes out. I've seen some performance comparisons on YouTube, but the results vary widely between the two CPUs depending on the game, with neither consistently outperforming the other. Since I'm not very tech-savvy, I'm not sure if the extra money for the 7600X3D is worth it. I have an RTX 4060 8GB card and my PSU has a maximum wattage of 600W. I know I'll need a new cooling solution for whichever CPU I choose, so any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, the 7600X is a solid choice, especially considering the price. With the bundle being only $250, you’d be saving quite a bit. The performance gap between the 7000 series and 9000 series X3D chips is significant, so maybe wait for those to come down in price later on.
Considering that WoW can be CPU intensive, I think the 7600X3D could be worth it for a smoother experience, particularly since it addresses the known performance issues with MMOs. That extra cache can make a difference!
I’d recommend going with the 7600X3D, especially since you play a lot of MMOs and simulations like WoW. The extra cache in the X3D will help reduce stutters and make the gameplay feel smoother overall.
Have you thought about a different option? The Microcenter near me is offering the Ryzen 7700X bundle for $350, which includes a solid motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. It might serve you better in the long run and provides great performance compared to both the 7600X and X3D, especially at higher resolutions. Plus, you could use some of the savings for a good cooler!
With your RTX 4060, I don't think you absolutely need the X3D. A lot of the comparison videos are done with higher-end GPUs that might exaggerate the differences in CPU performance. The 7600X should handle your games just fine.
