I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I need to use Windows for specific tasks, and I was initially going to dual boot it with CachyOS. However, I've heard that Windows can cause issues with Linux, even if they're on separate drives. I also read that running Windows as a virtual machine (VM) might not have these issues, but it seems more complex to set up. I'm wondering if I should invest time in learning to create a Windows VM in CachyOS or if the potential conflicts with dual booting can be avoided. What do you think?

You can definitely run Windows alongside Linux, but the usual advice is to install Windows first, then Linux. This is because the Windows installer can mess with the bootloader. If you put Windows on a different drive, it should work fine since each will maintain its own bootloader. Just keep in mind, you might need to adjust the boot order in your BIOS afterwards.
It really depends on your hardware capabilities! Do you have at least a 16-core CPU and 32GB of RAM? Two GPUs would be great too, especially if you're thinking of running both OSs smoothly. You'll also need to ensure you have enough space on your drives for both operating systems. Plus, you should consider whether you have the time and patience to get everything working as a VM.
