Should I get 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM for a Ryzen 7 3700X build?

I'm putting together a PC for a friend using a Ryzen 7 3700X that I have, and I'm just about ready to buy the RAM. She'll mainly use it for work and some casual gaming, like Fortnite and Minecraft. I'm wondering if it's worth spending the extra cash to go for 32 GB of RAM, or will 16 GB be sufficient? Thanks in advance!

32 GB isn't that much more expensive, and it'll help prevent any lagging down the line. It'll keep the system running smoothly for work and any games she plays.

Honestly, the price difference between 32 GB and 16 GB isn't huge, but the performance boost you get from 32 GB is definitely noticeable. It really comes down to how much you're willing to invest for a smoother experience.

Honestly, buying just 16 GB now feels like a bad call, especially with how fast games are evolving and demanding more memory.

It really depends on what games she's into. 16 GB is enough for the majority, but with new AAA titles and even some indie games, you might need more. For most users, 16 GB suffices, but if you think about future upgrades, 32 GB will definitely be the way to go.

Since I probably won’t upgrade this computer at all, I am only looking to get the RAM. I've got everything else, including 16 GB of 2666 speed RAM.

Going with 32 GB is a smart move. 16 GB is really the bare minimum these days, and having the extra will future-proof the system a bit more, especially if she decides to play more demanding games later.
