Should I get a 180Hz or 240Hz monitor for CS2 and single-player games?

Hey folks! I recently put together a new PC with an RTX 5070 Ti and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and now I'm trying to decide on a monitor. I primarily play CS2, but I also enjoy playing single-player games at max settings. I'm a bit torn between getting a 240Hz monitor or sticking with a 180Hz one. If I choose 240Hz, will I suffer from lower frames in single-player games, which might make it hard on my eyes? Should I just go for the 180Hz option since I might not notice a big jump in frame rates when switching between CS2 and those maxed-out single-player games? Currently, I'm using a 1080p monitor with 144Hz. Any thoughts? Cheers!

I hear you! I recently got a 5070 Ti myself, and it’s a tough decision. I think 240Hz is worth it for CS2. Just cap the frames for single-player games if it drops too low. It’s all about smoothing out the experience!

I'd definitely go for the 240Hz monitor! If your frames drop in single-player games, you can just cap the frame rate. That way, you won't be stuck with a higher refresh rate while getting lower FPS, which is fine for less intense games.

I’d recommend going for the 240Hz option. You can always lower the cap for single-player games, so it won't feel jarring. Plus, you can't really bump your refresh rate higher than your monitor supports, so having that higher ceiling is a great option.

That's exactly my concern! I had a rough time with 80fps on my old 144Hz monitor, and I really don’t want to feel that way again.
