Should I go for 8TB or is 12TB really necessary for my games?

I'm thinking about upgrading my SSD and have the option to choose between a 4TB and an 8TB drive. I don't want to overspend, so I'm wondering if getting 12TB is overkill, or if 8TB would be sufficient. I don't mind uninstalling games, but there are a few favorites I'd prefer to keep installed all the time because I like to replay them. With SSD prices being so high at the moment, I'd love some opinions on this!

It all comes down to your usage. If you’re also into media like photos or videos, then having around 12TB isn’t bad at all. But if it's just for games, I’d stick with 4TB or 8TB at the most. Maybe consider storing other stuff on HDDs if you're tight on budget.

I get that! Having a separate storage for other files can really help save space.

Absolutely. A dedicated setup keeps everything organized too!

For gaming, I'd say 8TB is quite generous! But I have a 4TB SSD, and I never feel like I need more. It really depends on how many games you have installed. If you’re hovering around that 4TB used now, you’ll probably be okay without breaking the bank.

Right! If you're just looking for games, 4TB can be plenty, especially if you manage your library well.

Exactly! Just keep what you love and rotate out the others when needed.

If you can swing the extra cash, go for more! Prices are only going to keep rising, so if you think 8TB will suffice, grab it while it's still a decent price. It's not like storage is going to get any cheaper or more compact!

That’s solid advice! Better to get a good deal now rather than regret later.

For sure! Plus, games are only getting bigger, and you never know when you'll need the space.

Honestly, both options might be more than you need if you're just looking to game. If you have a lot of games, 12TB seems a bit excessive. Most gamers find that even 1TB works fine for what they need, and 2TB is generally more than enough for a comfortable setup. If you anticipate bigger game sizes in the future, though, aiming for around 4TB seems pretty reasonable!

Yeah, especially with games getting bigger, 4TB might hit that sweet spot for now and in the near future.

I agree! Dipped into 1TB and realized I was constantly deleting stuff. Definitely a consideration!
