I'm putting together a high-end PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, liquid cooling, a top-tier motherboard, and plenty of memory and storage. I'm considering the ASUS 5090 Astral for the GPU, but I've seen a lot of negative feedback about melting cables associated with this model, which has me second-guessing my choice. The only alternative I have is the XFX Mercury 9070 XT, which doesn't come with a 12-pin cable. If I undervolt the Astral, would that help minimize the risk of any melting issues? Thanks for your advice!

Honestly, I think getting the 5090 Astral is the better call. You’ve spent so much on all these components, so why skimp on the GPU? Melting cables are a concern, but they mainly affect a small percentage of users, especially if you stick to the cables your PSU provides. Plus, it should be under warranty, so any issues might be covered!
Your only options seem pretty limited; I don't get why you’d pair such premium parts with a 9070 XT. You could go for the 5090 and just keep an eye out for any cabling issues. It's not like it's widespread or anything.
Exactly! Just ensure you’re using the right cables and connect everything properly. It’s not as common as it seems.
