Should I go for the Intel 14600K or AMD 7600X3D for an upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my AM4 gaming build after playing the Battlefield 6 beta and realizing my current setup just isn't cutting it. I've been out of the PC parts scene for a while and own components like a PureBass 500dx case, a B450 Tomahawk motherboard, a Ryzen 3700X processor, an RX 6800 GPU, and 32GB of DDR4 3600 MHz RAM. Unfortunately, I missed the chance to grab a cheap 5700X3D, and now I'm torn between upgrading to an Intel 14600K or an AMD 7600X3D. I've heard good things about both, but I need some experienced advice on which direction to go. Intel seems to have good prices now, especially with deals on Battlefield 6 included with the CPU purchase, but I've also heard people warning against Intel due to potential issues with the LGA1700 socket. Is it true that the risks with the Intel platform have been resolved? Also, am I better off with the AMD option for future-proofing?

The 14600K is a decent choice, especially if you're okay with upgrading your motherboard too. If you’re set on DDR5, that’s a plus, but keep in mind that LGA1700 is potentially a dead end since no new CPUs will be coming for that socket. If you’re not planning to upgrade again soon, go for it. However, if you think you might want to in the next few years, consider looking at the 7600X or 9600X for AM5; they’d serve you well for BF6.

Why do you think someone would need to upgrade from the 14600K in just three years? I'm genuinely curious.

If you can snag the 14600K bundled with BF6 for around $150 and get a DDR4 motherboard for about $80 to $100 while reusing your current RAM and GPU, that's unbeatable value! I made the jump from a 5700X3D to the 14600K, and I can tell you, it really performs like a champ. Just remember to update your BIOS and consider undervolting it to keep those temps down. I've been running mine without hitting any concerning heat levels.

Check out this video I found; it sums things up well! If you're thinking about upgrading in the next few years, AMD's 7600X3D might be a better long-term option. If not, the 14600K is solid value for now.
