I recently forgot to cancel my free trial for Duolingo, which resulted in being charged for a full year. I quickly submitted a refund request, but it got rejected. This may be due to having previously been denied a refund for something my sister purchased on my phone. The Duolingo subscription is way over my budget, so I called Apple support for help. The representative suggested that if my next refund request also gets denied, I could consider a chargeback through my bank. I asked if this would affect my account, and she mentioned that since I've never initiated a chargeback before, the worst-case scenario is that my account could be locked temporarily, but I could easily call to have it unlocked. I'm wondering if going through with the chargeback is worth it, especially since I'll be doing it through PayPal. Any advice?

It's true that a chargeback might disable your ability to make new purchases temporarily, but usually, you can get it re-enabled by calling Apple again. If your refund request gets denied again, a chargeback could be your last option to get your money back, but keep in mind that it's a last resort.
Honestly, that advice is a bit risky. Doing a chargeback could indeed lock your account, and you might lose access to all your data and previous purchases. It's a serious step to take and Apple usually doesn't reverse chargebacks. I'd recommend exploring all other options first before going that route.
