Should I Invest in the RTX 5080 for My Gaming PC?

I'm currently in the process of building a gaming PC and now I need to choose a GPU. I've already picked my CPU, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and I've got high-quality Lian Li fans, which I know are pricey but I'm set on them. However, I'm really on the fence about getting the RTX 5080 due to its sky-high prices. I'm considering alternatives like the RTX 5070 or 5070 Ti, and even the RTX 4080 Super. My goal is to have strong gaming performance, especially since I plan to use mods and may venture into game development or content creation. My current specs are a Lian Li Vision Compact case, an ASUS ROG Strix B850-A motherboard, T-Force 16GB RAM, and a Corsair RM850X power supply. What do you think? Is the investment in the RTX 5080 worth it?

Absolutely not worth it unless you're going for a specific use case that needs that extra power. The 5080 is only about 15% faster than the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT but priced much higher. Think it through if you're all about performance without going broke.

Honestly, I'd hold off on the 5080. The performance difference from a 5070 or even an RX 9070 XT isn't significant enough to justify the price. If you're just gaming, you might be better off saving that cash.

If you're considering the 5070 Ti, check the price difference. Where I live, the 5070 Ti is about €1000, while the 5080 is around €1200. If you can stretch your budget for the 5080, the performance boost is worth it, especially if you plan to use it for more demanding tasks.

If you can find a decent deal under $1200, go for it! But keep in mind that 5070 Ti is a great option too, especially if you're gaming without needing NVIDIA's features. Just consider what you really need from your GPU.

Honestly, it really depends on your regional pricing. I got my RTX 5080 for under MSRP last November, and I don't regret it. It performs exceptionally well, especially with overclocking. I managed to push mine to nearly 4090 levels! But prices now are pretty steep, so just make sure you're getting a good deal.

Yeah, I wish I had built my PC sooner too, prices for everything like RAM and storage are just crazy right now. It's tough to stick to a budget.

You've got a solid power supply with the Corsair RM850X, so you should be fine with power. Just make sure to check if you need a new power cable for the 5080. As for the GPUs, either one would serve you well, but it’s better to buy the one closer to MSRP to get the best value.

I think I might go for the 5070 Ti since it's around $999 at Micro Center. It's steep but closer to what I want to spend than the 5080.
