I recently acquired a 700W power supply unit (PSU), model HP1-J700GD-F12S, but I'm feeling a bit uneasy about its safety and the environmental impact. Do you think it's worth keeping, or should I look into getting a replacement?

If you're worried about safety, make sure to check its age and condition. Since it's only 5 months old, it should be fine as long as you don't notice any issues. Just keep it well-ventilated and monitor it for any strange noises or overheating.
If it's in good condition and you're not having any problems, I think you should keep it. Just do regular checks on it. If anything feels off, then consider a change!
Honestly, it sounds like a solid PSU for normal use. If you're really concerned, look at reviews and see if there are any known problems. Otherwise, I don't think you need to rush into replacing it.
Thanks for the advice! I’ll keep an eye on it.
