I'm 14, live in Germany, and mainly use my PC for gaming. I play Counter-Strike, Ready or Not, Rocket League, and sometimes Minecraft, and I'm aiming for 1440p at around 200 Hz. I can save roughly €2,750, with family potentially bringing the total budget to about €3,000 for the complete setup.
My current prebuilt has a Ryzen 7 5800X, 16 GB of DDR4, and what appears to be a defective RTX 3070. I need to replace the graphics card anyway, and I'm currently considering an RTX 5070. I could install that card in my existing system now and move it into a new build later.
The new white-themed build I'm considering would cost around €2,300 and use a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, DDR5, and a new motherboard. I'm unsure whether that upgrade is worthwhile, since keeping the 5800X would save roughly €400–€700 depending on the motherboard and memory choices. I'm also interested in an all-white setup with a matching case, GPU, AIO, and fans, so aesthetics are an important part of the project rather than just maximum performance.
For the graphics card, would an RTX 5070 be sufficient for keeping the PC for five or more years, or would an RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, or Radeon RX 9070 XT make more sense? The 9070 XT is considerably cheaper in some stores and has 16 GB of VRAM, while Nvidia offers features such as DLSS and frame generation.
Would you keep the 5800X, add more DDR4 and possibly upgrade to a 5800X3D, or build the new AM5 system now for better long-term upgradeability and a setup I'll enjoy using?

For your games and 1440p target, the 5800X is still perfectly capable, especially around 200 Hz. The most sensible value upgrade would be to update the BIOS if necessary, move to 32 GB of DDR4, and install a stronger graphics card. A 5800X3D could help in CPU-limited games, but it is not essential for your current system.
If gaming is the priority, compare the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 based on actual local prices. The 9070 XT generally offers strong raster performance and 16 GB of VRAM, while the 5070 gives you Nvidia’s upscaling, ray-tracing, and frame-generation features. Neither choice guarantees a trouble-free five-year period at maximum settings, so getting the faster card you can comfortably afford is more useful than focusing on a specific lifespan claim.
The 9070 XT is not automatically better in every game. If you care about DLSS, ray tracing, or Nvidia-specific software features, the 5070 may still be the better fit even if its raw performance is similar.
The cheapest practical route is to repair or replace the GPU, add another 16 GB of compatible DDR4, and keep the 5800X for another couple of years. You could sell the old processor and memory if you later move to a new platform. That would leave more money for a better monitor or a future complete build when the current system actually becomes a limitation.
A 9800X3D system makes sense if you genuinely want to build a new PC now, plan to keep it for many years, and would otherwise replace the motherboard and RAM for cosmetic reasons. It will provide excellent gaming performance and puts you on AM5, but it is not necessary for Counter-Strike, Rocket League, Minecraft, or Ready or Not at 1440p. You would mostly be paying for longevity, a clean new build, and the enjoyment of owning it.
I would not spend the entire €3,000 just because the budget is available. A balanced build with a 9800X3D and a sensible GPU is preferable to overspending on a higher-tier card that you do not need for your monitor.

If you are replacing the motherboard and memory anyway because you want a specific white aesthetic, the savings from staying on AM4 become smaller. In that case, AM5 gives you a newer platform and more upgrade options.
