I'm looking to upgrade my old PC and have just purchased an SSD because my HDD is starting to fail. I'm unsure whether I should completely remove the old HDD or if it's better to keep it in addition to the new SSD. What do you think?

If you have the space, why not use both drives? However, check the SMART status of your HDD first to make sure it’s still in good health. A good tool to do this is Crystal Disk Info, and there's a guide out there if you need help with it.
When I did the same upgrade, I kept my HDD. Just make sure you move your operating system to the SSD. A fresh install of Windows usually works best for this.
Cloning your HDD so you can swap over the data to the SSD is another solid approach if you want to keep your files and settings intact.
It really depends on whether you need the extra storage space. If you're low on room, keeping both could be the way to go! But if you're mostly running off the SSD, consider the age of the HDD before making your choice.

My HDD is around 20 years old, but it's still functioning so I might just keep it for now.
