I'm considering whether to hold off on upgrading my system and save up for the AM6 platform. Is it better to wait for AM6, or should I just go ahead and build with AM4?

Honestly, you're going to be waiting a while for the AM6 platform—it's at least 4 to 5 years away. You'll likely see Zen 6 and 7 on the AM5 socket before AM6 even becomes a reality. If you're in a hurry, it might be smart to build on AM4 now and then think about upgrading later.
I'm taking a different path and going with AM3 for fun. Just ordered an FX-9590! Sometimes being different has its own rewards.
It really depends on your budget. If you can swing it, you might want to look at going with AM4 or even AM5 if the deals are right. AM4 prices can be a bit high right now, so just keep an eye out for good deals on CPUs.
If you're willing to wait about 4 years, then sure, save up for AM6. But if you need something sooner rather than later, don't wait! Some people got burned waiting during the GPU crisis.

Exactly! If you need a system now, definitely don’t wait for AM6.
