Should I Sell My Series X and Upgrade My PC for 1440p Gaming?

I'm considering letting go of my Xbox Series X since I haven't had much time for gaming recently. I have a decent PC build with a Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon 6800, and 16GB of RAM that I primarily use for 1080p gaming. If I sell the Xbox, I'll replace one of my monitors with a 1440p model. My upgrade budget will depend on what I can sell my 6800, Series X, and some accessories for. I think I could manage to just afford a 5070 (non-Ti) along with a decent 1440p monitor. Do you think this setup will let me game at 1440p and 60fps on medium settings for the next year or two? I'd ideally like to upgrade to AM5 or at least go for an AM4 X3D processor, but I'm not sure when I'll have the budget for that. I'm open to any other suggestions on how to enhance my setup without breaking the bank.

Honestly, 1440p at 60fps isn't too demanding. I used to run that resolution at 165 fps on medium settings with a weaker 3070 Ti. Just watch out for VRAM, as it can become an issue over time. The 5070 should do fine for you.

Having both the Series X and a gaming PC is nice since the Xbox can serve as a backup if your PC runs into issues. But if selling the Xbox helps fund your upgrade, that's understandable. You might consider keeping everything for now and just grab the monitor; hitting 60 FPS should still work well with your current setup!

If you choose to go this route, it sounds like a solid plan. Just curious, how much RAM do you currently have?

I've got 32GB of RAM!

I think your upgrade path makes sense! The 5070 is a pretty robust card; you shouldn't run into issues playing at 1440p with medium settings.
