Should I Settle for a 256GB M.2 SSD or Wait for a 1TB Replacement?

Hey everyone! I recently had a mishap with my 1TB Kingston M.2 SSD and it's completely dead. I took my PC to a repair shop and they only have a 256GB drive available right now. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and install that 256GB drive or if it makes more sense to wait and get another 1TB drive. What do you all think?

Think about how often you play big games. Do you have fast internet to download and uninstall games regularly? If you're not moving files around a lot, you might manage with 256GB, though it could get tight.

Yeah, I mostly play Baldur's Gate 3 and I have solid internet since I'm on ethernet. I don't have any important files, so I'm not moving much around. Thanks for the tips!

It really depends on how much storage you actually need for your stuff. If you mainly just game and watch TV shows, maybe 256GB could work for you, but it might feel cramped with larger games like Baldur's Gate 3.

Honestly, you probably didn’t need to take it to a repair shop. Replacing an SSD isn’t too hard if you can use a screwdriver.

Have you had your SSD for a while? Kingston offers a 5-year warranty, so you might be able to get a 1TB replacement for free instead of settling for a 256GB!
