I recently purchased a B550M DS3H AC motherboard and an R5 5600X processor, originally planning to pair them with a 3080 GPU. However, my situation changed, and I was able to buy a better GPU, the 5070. Now, I need to decide if I should sell my AM4 parts to get an AM5 motherboard and CPU, or if it's better to just upgrade my monitor and keep the setup as is. Will upgrading the monitor make a significant difference in performance?

There's always something better out there. If you keep chasing the latest gear, you'll end up endlessly buying and selling, and won't have time to actually enjoy gaming. Upgrade your monitor, install your favorite games, and just have fun!
Why not just sell the 5600X and spend a bit more to get a 5700X or even a 5800X? They’re a perfect finale for the AM4 platform. I upgraded from a 3600X to a 5700X and it's been more than enough for me. Honestly, I think most games aren’t even worth the hype anymore, so I’m waiting for AM6 before jumping fully into AM5.
If you have a Microcenter nearby, they’ve got an AM5 bundle right now with a 650 and 7600X for around $270. But just remember, a new monitor won’t help much if you’re dealing with a CPU bottleneck.
Ah no, I live in Australia unfortunately, so no Microcenter for me.
It all depends on your budget. Used AM4 is still great! Most gamers are playing titles from 2-10 years ago, and AM4 can handle those just fine. If you buy new, the price difference doesn’t really justify upgrading to old hardware.
Yeah, I picked up my B550M and 5600X for around 250 AUD, while new AM5 parts start at at least 200 AUD more.
That is good life advice there - thank you for that.
