Should I Stick with BIOS 0x129 or Upgrade?

I updated my BIOS to version 0x129 a while back due to concerns about CPU voltage issues. I noticed that 0x129 seems to be the threshold for what's considered 'acceptable'. However, I heard that a newer version, 0x12B, was released soon after, and I still haven't updated because I was pretty anxious about the first BIOS update. My PC has been running fine for the last three years, except for one game, Overwatch, which keeps prompting me to update the BIOS. I'm curious about a few things:

1. Am I safe sticking with 0x129? If my PC hasn't had any major issues, can I assume it's not damaging my CPU too much? I'm reluctant to do another BIOS update if my setup is stable.

2. My PC builder recommends using BIOS version 2603, which is older than the latest versions. I've come across something called 'Intel Management Engine' (Intel-ME). How critical is it to have this updated, and does it have to be on a specific version to work properly with newer BIOS updates?

3. If it turns out that I really need to update my BIOS, should I go straight to the newest version, or stick with the recommended 2603 instead? What role does Intel-ME play in this?

You're definitely not in immediate danger, but running outdated BIOS can expose you to potential vulnerabilities. It’s not just about the lifespan of your CPU; it’s about keeping your system secure. Updating to the latest version helps close any security gaps they may find after the release of older BIOS versions. But if everything's been fine for three years, it's okay to take your time with updates. Just don’t wait too long!

Got it! Thanks for clarifying that. Just out of curiosity, how often should someone like me really think about BIOS updates? I hear it can be a bit stressful.

Yeah, I wanna know too! What's the usual time frame for BIOS updates when it comes to gaming?
