I recently got the 9800X3D for $472, along with a free $58 M.2 SSD from a promotion. However, I found out that I can get the 7800X3D for only $370, also with a free SSD. I'm debating whether to return the 9800X3D or keep it. I'm upgrading from the 5800X3D and moving to the AM5 platform for my new system. Is the 9800X3D a better option for future GPU upgrades? I'm currently using a 7900XTX.

If you've already spent the money on the 9800X3D, just stick with it! It might not be worth the hassle to make a switch for a small price difference.
Honestly, I'd recommend the 9800X3D. Its design is better, especially with the cache placement under the core. It performs better overall, with significant gains in non-cache bound scenarios and should serve you well for future GPU upgrades, especially if you're considering something like a 5080 or 5090 down the line.
That's really helpful! I wasn't aware of that cache detail. Since I just got a 4K OLED, I was worried about upgradability. So even at 4K, you think it's better to keep the 9800X3D?
