Hey everyone,
I've recently taken over a Velocloud SDWAN setup that spans 200 retail locations, and it's been running smoothly. However, I've heard that Broadcom is looking to sell off Velocloud and has drastically increased the pricing. This has me thinking it might be time to ditch SDWAN altogether.
To me, SDWAN feels like an upscale version of a managed VPN, and I'm contemplating switching to something more budget-friendly like Sophos, which supports IPSEC and handles 4G failover decently. That said, moving to Sophos seems like a step backward in some ways.
I'd love to hear your experiences or suggestions about transitioning away from SDWAN. What do you think?

I’ve heard Broadcom hasn’t really done much with Velocloud; it's a separate entity from VMware. In fact, my renewal was cheaper than I expected. What’s your MSP saying?
I manage a larger Velocloud network, and honestly, the advantages of SDWAN for performance and management are invaluable for us. It has become a vital part of our operations and revenue. Ditching it might not be worth the risk!
I get that, but with the price hikes, I'm seriously weighing my options!
Hey, do you have any links about Broadcom selling off Velocloud? I've been hearing whispers about it but would like to see some solid info.
If you’re looking for alternatives, consider switching to Meraki or Fortinet SD-WAN. They could provide a solid experience without the hefty costs!
Have you checked out Cato Networks? They might offer something to consider as you explore your options.
Switching back to static VPNs for such a large network might not be the best move. SDWAN offers lots of efficiencies and benefits that you might miss out on. You should definitely think twice before taking that step!
Honestly, SDWAN was built to integrate various technologies for WAN failover. Before ditching it completely, maybe explore switching vendors. Fortigate or Sophos are both solid options for better pricing, or go with Meraki if you want something a little fancier.
My MSP claims Broadcom has already completed the deal to offload Velocloud. Here’s a link I found: https://www.channelfutures.com/mergers-acquisitions/broadcom-reportedly-buying-velocloud-from-arista-networks.
