I'm currently using an Nvidia 4080 in my rig, but I'm really interested in the ASRock Phantom Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX with 24GB GDDR6. I'm considering selling my current GPU for around $800-$1000 to get the 7900 XTX. I've tried researching, but I feel a bit lost with all the specs and comparisons. Is it worth the switch?

The performance difference between the two cards is pretty close. The 7900 XTX offers a bit more speed in rasterization, while the 4080 shines in ray tracing performance. Plus, the AMD card has 8 extra GB of VRAM, but honestly, most games today don’t really need more than 16 GB. So I would say it might not be worth the hassle to switch right now.
Switching doesn't make much sense unless you really need that extra VRAM. Overall, the 7900 XTX performs similarly for most things and can struggle with ray tracing. It might feel like a downgrade for general gaming.
What's rasterization exactly? Sounds complicated.
Thanks for the insight! Sounds like I should stick with my 4080 for now.
