Should I trade my RTX 5070 for an RX 9070XT?

I'm in a bit of a pickle—tomorrow is my last chance to return my RTX 5070 and get my money back, but I'm thinking about switching to the RX 9070XT. The RX 9070XT has better performance and more VRAM, which is appealing, but I've also heard it consumes more power. Since energy is really pricey in Poland, I'm unsure whether this switch would be worth it. Any advice on what I should do?

I think you should go ahead and return the RTX 5070. The RX 9070XT has the edge in performance and more VRAM, which will definitely help in the long run. Plus, you can undervolt it to manage power consumption better!

Is there even a two-fan version of the 9070XT available at a good price?

For sure! The extra VRAM will really benefit your system in the future.

I switched from a 5060Ti to the 9070XT and couldn't be happier. If you don't heavily rely on Nvidia's fancy features like ray tracing, the 9070XT is definitely the way to go. Just avoid Nvidia if you can.

Yeah, but AMD has its shortcomings too. Make sure to weigh those hidden downsides.

Upgrading from the 5070, you’ll notice a big difference in performance!

If power efficiency is your main concern, consider that the 9070XT can be quite the power hog but also more powerful. In raw performance, the 5070 may edge it out, but factors like undervolting make it a complicated decision. Just look at raw specs and features to decide what fits your gaming style and budget.

Are there significant differences in their yearly electricity costs? I don’t want to regret my choice later!

Honestly, worrying about power in a high-end rig seems a bit misplaced. If you need that performance, you have to pay for it!

If you're considering dual-booting with Linux, I'd recommend going for the AMD card. They tend to perform better under Linux, and you can undervolt the 9070XT while still outpacing the 5070.

I really think that's overrated. Nvidia's drivers on Linux are improving, though it's true they still have their quirks.

Ultimately, it depends on your specific needs. My setup can only fit the 5070, and it’s been more than enough for casual gaming on my 4K TV. If you're not gaming competitively, the 5070 should serve you just fine.
