Hey everyone! I've got an iPhone 12 mini, and it's currently running on iOS 17.6.1. I've loved this setup and planned to stick with it. However, I recently got an Apple Watch Series 11 as a gift, and I'm facing a problem: it won't connect to my iPhone because I need to update the iOS to 26.2.1. The catch is that Apple doesn't allow downgrades, so if I go ahead with the update, I'll be stuck with iOS 26.2.1. I'm torn between updating to use the watch or sticking with my stable iOS 17.6.1 and leaving the watch unused. What do you all think?

It really depends on your iPhone's battery health. Many people have performance issues after updating, and that often comes down to a degraded battery. Have you checked yours?
I’d say go for the update! You've got a new Apple Watch, and you might as well enjoy it. It’d be a shame to let it sit unused because of the software version.
Totally, but I've heard some people say updates can kill battery life... what if your phone gets sluggish?
If you always have a charger handy, updating might not be a big deal. The iPhone 12 mini’s battery was never amazing, but from what I've heard, the 26 update didn't hit batteries as hard as some previous ones. If your battery health is decent, you should be fine speed-wise!

Yep, it’s at 78% right now. Not great, right?
