Should I Upgrade from Ryzen 5 5500 to 5600 for $30?

I recently bought a used Ryzen 5 5500 for $50, but as I was gathering parts for my build, I learned that the 5500 only supports PCIe Gen 3. Meanwhile, I found a used Ryzen 5 5600 for $80, which seems to be better overall. I'm considering whether I should sell my 5500 and go for the 5600 instead, or just keep the 5500. Is the $30 difference worth it, especially since I plan to pair it with an RX6600 for 1080p gaming?

I'd go for the 5600 if you can. The performance is about 20% better, especially in CPU-heavy games. The L3 cache makes a significant difference!

$30 is a small price to pay for a massive upgrade. The 5600 is way better for gaming, especially in CPU-limited scenarios!

Definitely make the switch to the 5600! The 5500 not only has PCIe Gen 3, but it also has half the L3 cache compared to the 5600. The extra $30 is nothing for the performance boost you'll get, especially in gaming.

Exactly! Plus, the 5500 is basically a 5500G with the integrated graphics turned off, so it's not just a smaller version of the 5600.

For sure, the 5600 is a much better choice overall. You won't regret spending the extra cash on it!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I think I’ll sell the 5500 and grab the 5600.
