Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle trying to decide on my next upgrade. Here's my current setup:
- CPU: R7 3700x
- GPU: RTX 3080 OC 10GB
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB
I mainly game with this rig, playing AAA titles at high to ultra settings. Unfortunately, I've noticed that performance is suffering lately. For instance, I had to drop the settings to low for DOOM to hit 60 fps, which has me thinking my CPU is becoming a bottleneck.
Now, I'm really eager to get back into gaming but I'm torn between two upgrade options in the current market:
1. An entire new build with a 7800X3D, 5070TI, a new motherboard, RAM, PSU, and cooler for a total cost of $2754.
2. Just upgrading to a Ryzen 5900x and a 5070 TI for around $1542.69.
What do you think would be the best route for me? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Before making a decision, consider the resolution you want to play at. What are you aiming for? It makes a difference for performance!
Instead of the 5900x, you might want to look at the 5700x3D or 5800x3D. Plus, snagging another 16GB stick of RAM could really help since DDR4 prices are quite reasonable right now.
If I went with a 5080 and paired it with a 5800x3d, would that be too much for my current setup?

I'm gaming at 2560 x 1440p.
