Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to PC building and I'm excited to share that I finally got my hands on an RX 9070 GPU! Since I'll be getting it today, I want to make sure my setup is solid. Most builds I've seen use AM5 motherboards, which is making me a bit anxious about bottlenecking. I'm not really in a position to upgrade to DDR5 right now, unless there's a magical microATX AM5 board that still supports DDR4 (which I doubt). Here's what I've got:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
- **Motherboard:** MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI Micro ATX AM4
- **Memory:** Patriot Viper Steel RGB 32 GB
- **Video Card:** Asus PRIME OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB
- **Case:** Cooler Master Q300L V2 MicroATX Mini
- **Power Supply:** MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W
The 5700G has integrated graphics that I don't use, and I realize it's a bit of a weaker chip compared to the 5700X. I'm considering upgrading to the 5700X or maybe the 5800X, but I'm hesitant because I've heard they run hot. I'm trying to figure out if the boost in performance would justify the upgrade, or if I should just hold off and see how things run with my current setup. Any advice on whether I should go for the CPU upgrade or stick with my 5700G for now? Thanks!

Moving to the 5700X from the 5700G might not be worth it unless you’re going for the 5700X3D or 5800X3D. If you’re mainly gaming on 1080p at 60Hz, maybe think about prioritizing a monitor upgrade instead. A better monitor could really enhance your experience!
The Ryzen 5000 G-series does have a lower performance due to a smaller L3 cache since part of the die is used for integrated graphics. You might see some bottlenecking with the 9070 XT, but it varies quite a bit depending on your game and settings. Overall, it’s manageable as long as you’re gaming at a higher resolution.
That makes sense! Just be aware that if you're running games at lower settings, you might feel that bottleneck more frequently. But if you stick to higher resolutions, it should work out fine.

That sounds like a good plan! Upgrading your monitor can offer more immediate benefits, especially if you're still on 60Hz. A 144Hz monitor would make a huge difference in your gaming.
