Should I Upgrade My CPU or GPU for Better 4K Gaming Performance?

I've got a 13th gen i7 13700 along with a 4060ti, and it's doing okay for gaming at 4K, managing about 60fps in Eldenring with some stuttering. But I'm looking to enhance my setup so I can consistently hit 4K at 120fps, especially with new games and features like frame generation coming out. What should I focus on upgrading first, the CPU or the GPU? Also, I'm curious about the most cost-effective upgrades available. I've been thinking about waiting for the upcoming 50 series graphics cards to drop in price as well. Any thoughts or suggestions would really help, thanks!

I’d say you definitely need to upgrade your GPU first. Your CPU is already solid for gaming. A card like the RX 9070xt is a great option, especially if you're aiming for 4K at higher frame rates. By the way, if you're looking for deals, keep an eye out in September when card prices generally drop.

Your current setup can handle 4K gaming, but for that smooth 120fps experience, beefing up your GPU is key. Cards like the 9070xt or even the upcoming 5070ti would be perfect. Just make sure you have a compatible power supply—that might be something to check on if you’re not sure what you have.

Definitely go for the GPU upgrade! Your CPU is fine for now. I’d suggest looking into a 9070xt or something even better if you're reaching for those high frame rates. And waiting for the newer cards could pay off, just be patient about it!
