Hey everyone! I'm currently working with a PC I built featuring an Intel i5 13500, a 6700XT graphics card, and 64GB of RAM. I really wish I had considered future-proofing as I'm still on the older LGA 1700 socket. I mostly use my computer for creating visuals in Unreal Engine, which is why I have so much RAM. Lately, I've been facing a lot of crashes in Unreal, mostly due to overloading with meshes. Do you think I should upgrade my entire motherboard and CPU, or would just upgrading my graphics card be enough?

Consider the AM5 platform upgrade, but keep in mind it can get pricey. For a new motherboard plus DDR5 RAM, you're looking at around $600+ total. Here's a breakdown:
- B650/B850 motherboard: $150 to $230
- 64GB DDR5 6000MHz: $160 to $200
- Ryzen 5 9600X: $185
- Mid-range options like 9700X/7700X: around $270 to $300
- Top gaming CPUs like 7800X3D: $360 to $470
- Best productivity options like 9950X: $525
Alternatively, you could opt for a 14th gen Intel i7 or i9 for a more cost-effective upgrade.
The Intel 14600k is a fantastic option right now! Just got mine for around $160. It offers about a 20% boost in multicore performance compared to the 13500, which should help with those Unreal Engine demands. I think it could be a solid upgrade for you!
Great idea! Upgrading to the 14600k should definitely improve your performance!
I totally back the 14600k as a budget-friendly choice. But if you want to really power through Unreal Engine, the 14700k might be worth considering. It has six more cores and more threads, making it better for multithreaded tasks. Just make sure that a stronger CPU will actually benefit your specific use case!
Thanks for the insight! It might be a stretch for my budget, but it gives me something to aim for in the future. I'll definitely look into the 14600k as a good starting point.
