Should I Upgrade My CPU to Ryzen 5 5600X?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU to the Ryzen 5 5600X. I recently sold my gaming PC with an RTX 3070 and an i5 processor and decided to build a more budget-friendly setup since I'm more focused on CPU-intensive games. Right now, I'm using a GTX 1660 Super, 32GB DDR4 RAM, and an AORUS B450 Pro motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3600. However, I'm finding that the 3600 is struggling a bit. I'm getting around 100-160 fps in games like Valorant and Fortnite. Is the Ryzen 5 5600X a worthwhile upgrade for my situation? I'm pretty new to AMD, so I appreciate any advice!

If you're looking to upgrade to a top-tier AM4 chip, consider the 5700X3D instead of the 5600X. It performs better for games you're playing. Of course, it depends on your budget—if you're tight on funds, the 5600X is still a solid choice.

Thanks for the tip about the 5700X3D! I'll see if it fits my budget. But is upgrading to a 5600X worth it? My sister has one with a weaker GPU, yet her FPS is way higher than mine.

I have a 5600X and it runs great! I'm actually considering moving to the 5700X3D soon.

I've had a Ryzen 3700X paired with my 3070, and even in modern games, I'm still getting over 100 fps, which is great if you're not into super competitive gaming. If you want to keep some cash, it might be fine to stick with what you have for now.

My monitor supports 280Hz, though. My sister's performance with her 5600X is impressive—would switching to the same CPU level my performance up?

The 5800XT is a great deal at $129 on Amazon and offers a nice performance boost. If you're looking at the 5700X3D, it's over $250 and might not be worth it—consider going for the AM5 platform instead.

Got it, thanks!

Totally worth it! The 5600X will give you a significant performance boost over the 3600, especially in CPU-heavy games like Valorant and Fortnite. Just make sure to update your BIOS before the upgrade.

Thanks! My CPU temps are a bit high though. Do you have any recommendations for budget coolers?
