However, it's starting to show its age and isn't meeting the minimum requirements for WoW anymore, especially with the CPU and graphics card VRAM. I'm wondering if it's wise to upgrade my current setup to keep up with gaming, or if I'll just be adding outdated components to an already aging build. It's performing well for my daily work, but it definitely needs a refresh for gaming. Also, at what point should I be concerned about cooling? Right now, I'm using the stock CPU cooler with just one exhaust fan since my motherboard only supports that. My original build consists of an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, and an NZXT S340 ATX Mid Tower.

If your motherboard doesn't support DDR5, going for the 5800XT and RTX 4060 would probably be your best bet. Just keep in mind that moving to the AM5 platform means you'll need new RAM, which is hard to find right now.
Upgrading to a 3060 or 3070 with a Ryzen 5 5600X would be a huge boost for your setup! You'd likely get 3-4 more years out of your PC for around $300 or so. I'm in a similar situation and I'm considering a Ryzen 5 5500 myself while holding out for newer components down the line.
Honestly, you'd be wise to cross-post this question to low-spec gaming forums. Your existing setup may not be cutting-edge, but upgrading to something like a 5600X would be a significant improvement. Regardless of your choice, video card and RAM will be the key concerns.
