I recently scored a 9800X3D for €250, and I'm excited about the upgrade! However, I currently have a build that features an RX 7800 XT, a Ryzen 5 7600, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and an ASRock B650 Pro RS motherboard. I've heard there might be compatibility issues between the 9800X3D and some ASRock boards, which has me second-guessing the upgrade. I'm particularly interested in gaming at high FPS, especially for games like Siege and Fortnite, while still enjoying nice visuals in AAA titles. Should I stick with my current board, switch to a different one, or just return the CPU and wait for the next generation? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

The issues with ASRock boards are pretty minimal, affecting only a small group of users. If you're worried, getting a new board is an option, but honestly, you might be fine as is! I'm using a 7800X3D on a different ASRock board without any problems myself.
Honestly, I'd recommend switching out the motherboard. The Gigabyte B850 gaming WiFi is a solid choice and relatively affordable, around €140-150. The 9800X3D is a fantastic CPU you don’t want to miss out on!
Consider selling your old CPU and motherboard together to get a new combo. Just steer clear of Asus or ASRock this time!
You should be good as long as you update your BIOS. That usually resolves any compatibility concerns with new CPUs!
Definitely get a new motherboard! The 9800X3D is one of the top CPUs available, plus AMD is committed to the AM5 socket for a while, so your investment will be worth it.
Thank you!

Thanks for the advice!
