I've been using my old PC for a while now, and it's been great, but I'm starting to wonder if I should upgrade it or just hold off and buy a new one in a couple of years. Here's what I have:
- CPU: i5-8400
- GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
- RAM: 16GB DDR4-3200
- Motherboard: Aorus Z370 Gaming 7
- Storage: 1TB M.2 SSD
- Power Supply: BeQuite Pure Power 11 600W
- OS: Linux
I want to play games at 1080p with better frame rates and higher quality. I started gaming a long time ago and plan to play titles like Anno 117, Cyberpunk, and the next Total War. My budget is about €500 for upgrades or €1000 for a new build. I live in the EU, so prices are a bit inflated. My partner has a newer system with a GTX 3060; can I upgrade my GPU to something from the 4000 series instead? Any advice would be super helpful!

If you’re watching your budget, consider picking up a used i7-9700K or even an i9. They still hold up against newer processors like the Ryzen 5800X, especially for gaming. And adding another 16GB of RAM would really help too! For the GPU, the RX 6800 XT would be a fantastic upgrade, but keep an eye out for the RTX 4060 if you're looking for something a bit more budget-friendly.
Honestly, with your current setup, I'd suggest focusing on getting a solid GPU. The CPU may not need upgrading just yet, especially since gaming performance often depends more on the GPU at higher resolutions. If you're looking to stick with 1080p, a good graphics card should really enhance your experience without shelling out for a whole new system right now.

But is it worth waiting for better deals? Would the prices of older graphics cards drop once the new ones come out?
