I'm considering whether to rebuild my system using most of the parts I already own since they're still good, but my GPU is on its last legs. I have a 1000W PSU, a Ryzen 7 5800X, 64GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM (around 4300MHz), and a NZXT 240mm CPU cooler—it's a full-sized setup. I worry that some of my components might be outdated and might need replacing soon anyway. Should I upgrade to something like a Ryzen 9 or an Intel equivalent, and switch to DDR5 RAM? I know I'd need a new motherboard for that. The issue is, I can buy a new PC for about the same cost. I'm also quite interested in the upcoming Steam Machine because it seems hassle-free compared to my current setup, where I'm having constant issues. I've been using a PS5 for gaming lately because of the problems with my PC. I'd love to hear opinions on building a small form factor (SFF) PC like the Steam Machine, as I'm tired of managing a large full-size tower. Has anyone built an SFF PC and can share their experience?

You still have a pretty solid build! The 5800X is still a competent CPU for gaming and productivity. Upgrading to a Ryzen 9 won't give you much of a boost in gaming performance. I'd recommend keeping your current parts, and maybe just throw in a 9060 XT 16GB GPU for a killer setup!

What do you think of getting a smaller case for it?
