I'm contemplating whether to upgrade my monitor from 1080p to 1440p. Currently, I have a 1080p monitor with a 180Hz refresh rate. I've tried using NVIDIA's DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) to scale to 1440p in games, and it looks sharper and more detailed, which surprised me. However, I've never experienced native 1440p before. Is there a significant difference between DSR 1440p and native 1440p? Would I really notice the difference, or are they pretty similar? Should I just stick with my 1080p DSR setup? My specs are i7 9700k, RTX 3070, and 16GB of RAM.

Upgrading to a 1440p monitor will definitely give you a sharper image, not just in games but also for everyday tasks like browsing and working. With current monitor prices, going for 1440p is really a smart choice, especially if you have a reasonably powerful GPU like yours.
Absolutely, 1440p will show a lot more detail. Even though DSR can enhance your 1080p display, it still can't match the physical pixel count of native 1440p. If you're looking for true clarity, going for a 1440p monitor is going to be a game-changer.
Thanks for the insight! I'm almost sold on getting a 2K monitor now. Just curious how much better it would be compared to DSR.
Yeah, I agree! I've heard similar things too, but I feel like DSR on my 1080p monitor looks pretty good as well.
