Should I Upgrade to a 1440p Monitor with My Current Setup?

I'm considering upgrading my monitor since my current one is pretty outdated, with poor color quality and only supports 1080p at 60Hz. I've seen some enticing options with G-Sync, with some models being 1080p and others 1440p. Here's my current build:
- Ryzen 5 5600
- RTX 2060 Super
- 16 GB RAM

I'm also thinking about upgrading my GPU to a newer 40 or 50 series model a little later, maybe next year. My question is whether it would be safe and worthwhile for me to get a 1440p monitor right now, or if I should stick with 1080p for the time being. I play both competitive online games and more modern single-player titles.

I'd say go for the 1440p monitor! Your RTX 2060 Super might struggle a bit with the latest AAA games on high settings, but for competitive games, it should handle it fine. Plus, you'll love having a sharper display once you upgrade your GPU later. Honestly, 1080p is becoming less relevant these days.

Unless you're looking at higher-end GPUs like the 9060XT or a 5060ti, I think sticking to 1080p is a good move. It's more cost-effective and will run games smoother on your current setup.

If you're not into heavy AAA games that demand a lot of VRAM, I'd recommend getting the 1440p. But if you're worried about performance, sticking with 1080p might be the safer bet for now.

Your CPU can definitely handle 1440p gaming, but the GPU is the bottleneck here. What GPU do you plan to upgrade to? Knowing your budget can help make this decision clearer!

I've been considering the 5060Ti or maybe a 4070. I'm looking at around $700 for the upgrade.
