I've been doing some research on upgrading my setup since my last post. Living close to a Microcenter, I see that they have AM5 bundles with CPU, Motherboard, and RAM available at decent prices. Right now, I have a RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 5 3600X, and I mostly game at 1440p on low settings, mainly focusing on competitive titles. Initially, I was leaning toward getting the 9800X3D bundle for $600, but after watching some comparisons, it seems that the performance difference between it and the 7600X3D at 1440p could be minimal, around 5 fps on average. The 7600X3D bundle is going for $420 and comes with a better motherboard that has more M.2 slots. Given that I plan to upgrade my GPU later this year, would it make more sense to go with the cheaper 7600X3D bundle? Also, I'm curious about which GPUs might bottleneck with the 9800X3D or 7600X3D in the future. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

If you're really looking to future-proof your rig without breaking the bank, consider going for the 7700X instead. It's a slight bump in price but comes with better longevity and performance if you're planning on a major GPU upgrade down the line. Definitely worth it if you can stretch your budget a bit!
Go for the 7600X3D bundle! It’s a steal at that price, especially compared to the 9800X3D bundle costs. You might miss out on a slight performance boost, but for your use case, it’s hard to argue against the value for what you get.
Honestly, if you're weighing these two bundles, I'd say the 7600X3D at $420 is a solid choice! With the motherboard upgrade and the price difference, it seems like a better deal, especially since the performance disparity isn’t huge. The extra M.2 slots are definitely a bonus for future upgrades!
Yeah, I agree! The cost-benefit on the 7600X3D really makes sense. Plus, if you're looking to upgrade your GPU later, you won't regret saving some money now.
I’d steer clear of the 9800X3D if your main focus is competitive gaming. The price just doesn’t justify the small performance leap you’ll get. You’ll likely find the 7600X3D suits your needs perfectly without it leading to a significant bottleneck for future GPUs in most gaming scenarios.
In terms of GPU bottlenecks, the 9800X3D actually has quite a bit of overhead. But be mindful that depending on the types of games you play, there might be certain titles or scenarios in which even the 7600X3D could struggle at high settings. For instance, at 4K resolution with really demanding games, even a powerful GPU could be limited by the CPU.
Exactly! It really depends on what games you're into. Always good to plan ahead though!
That's a good point! I hadn’t looked into the 7700X yet, thanks for the suggestion!
