Should I Upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5500 for My Older PC?

I'm currently using an i5 8600k paired with a Z370 MSI motherboard. I'm looking to get the most out of my 1070 Ti graphics card and I've come across a great deal on a Ryzen 5 5500. Is it a good idea to grab that CPU along with a B550 motherboard?

Just a heads up, the Ryzen 5 5500 isn't as strong as the 5600, as it performs similarly to the Ryzen 3600. You may find better value in picking up something like an 8700K or even a 9900K if you're looking at the used market. But if you're leaning towards AM4, it does offer a better upgrade path in the long run.

I appreciate the insight! Sounds like I might want to consider the 5600 instead, looks like it's worth searching for.

If you're spending more than $150 for both the Ryzen 5500 and the B550 motherboard, I'd say it might not be worth it. However, if you can get them both for around that price, it's a solid deal. Just keep in mind that while it's a decent upgrade, you might not fully max out your 1070 Ti, especially if you game at 1080p.
