I've recently picked up a 5070 Ti graphics card, and I'm currently using a Ryzen 9 3900X with 32 GB of 3200 MHz RAM. I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my setup to an AM5 Ryzen 9 processor, which would also require a new motherboard and RAM, or if I should simply stick with my AM4 setup and upgrade to a Ryzen 9 5900X instead. I do some music production work alongside gaming, and I'm having trouble figuring out the best route to take.

If your main focus is gaming, then going for the 5900X could be a better choice for now. The 5950X is also a great option for gaming and productivity, but keep in mind that your 5070 Ti might create a bit of a bottleneck. It's a tough situation, but you might be okay for now with your current setup before deciding on a bigger upgrade.

One way to deal with that bottleneck is to crank up the resolution and settings. I used to have a 1440p monitor way before it was the norm, and folks thought I was wasting my money. Now I’ve been enjoying top-quality graphics for years with no regrets!
