Should I Upgrade to AM5 or Stick with AM4 for My PC?

I'm looking for some advice on whether I should upgrade my Ryzen 5 3600 to AM5 or stick with AM4. My current setup includes an MSI B450 motherboard, RX 5700 XT GPU, and 32GB of RAM. I'm struggling with performance in newer games, and I want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my dual 1440p 240Hz monitor setup. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to an RTX 5070 Ti and have two options for my CPU: upgrade to AM5 with the Ryzen 5 7600X3D for about $400 (which includes a new motherboard and RAM bundle), or stay with AM4 and get a 5700X3D for around $270. Is the extra $150 for the AM5 setup worth it for future-proofing? Please share your thoughts, advice, or any alternatives I might not have considered!

Keep in mind that your current motherboard probably doesn’t support PCIe 4, which might limit performance. Just upgrading the CPU alone might not yield significant improvements. So going AM5 could be the smarter move.

Unless you find a steal on AM4 parts, I’d go AM5. If you had a top-tier AM4 motherboard, it might be worth it to stay, but that B450 could definitely use an upgrade. Also, consider adding an SSD to your new build; it can make a world of difference!

You might want to look for a used 5700X3D to save some cash if you're leaning that way. Just make sure it's in good condition!

Definitely go for AM5! The performance difference in demanding AAA games will be noticeable. You’re making a good choice planning to upgrade the GPU as well. The 7600X3D is a solid investment!

If budget isn't a big issue, I'm all for going with AM5. It's going to be beneficial in the long run, especially for future upgrades. Just remember, the AM4 parts, especially the X3D ones, can get pricey!
